Here at Rathwood, we understand the impacts of our actions and the global actions on our Earth and the climate so we have taken steps that will try to minimise waste, reduce pollution and engage in sustainable actions.

We have recently opened The Refillery which is a zero waste concept store whose goal is to eliminate the packaging and food waste from its operations. They stock organic whole foods such as dried fruit, seeds, grains, cereal, nuts where customers bring in their own containers to fill up when purchasing. They also sell containers, bottles, cleaning products, body care, dental products and environmentally friendly kitchen products. Most of the products are natural without sulphates or parabens as well as being made locally in Ireland in order to reduce the carbon footprint.

Opening zero waste stores like this eliminates the use of plastic bags and promotes the use of brown recyclable bags o reusable jars and containers . The products are displayed in dispensers around the shop. Shoppers are also able to choose exactly how much they need and want and this minimises the waste and cost as you are paying for what you really need.

We have also included a biomass generator on our premises which is a sustainable energy source that is created from living or non living organisms. Some of the most common items used for this type of energy include but are not limited to crops, wood, trash, etc. The energy from these material is then turned into electricity. We have also installed solar panels on our premises which are able to absorb the energy from the sun’s rays which will in turn generate electricity or heating.

This commitment can also be reflected through our products such as Christmas ornaments and garden furniture which are made from reusable, sustainable and recyclable materials. We would always recommend to purchase eco friendly Christmas ornaments which can be reused every year. Below are some of our sustainable products. We look forward to welcoming you to The Refillery!
