Rathwood is an award-winning family run furniture store established in 1994. Our aim at Rathwood is to provide you with beautiful yet affordable items for your home. For over 25 years our team has been selecting quality furniture, garden products and special gifts for our loyal customers.
Located just outside of Tullow on the border of Carlow and Wicklow, Rathwood is only 1 hour from Dublin.
Our Children’s Events, Beauty Boutique, Maze of Ireland, Animal park, Forest walks, Woodlands Train, Play Centre and Restaurant are just some of the exciting and different activities that visitors can avail of when they visit Rathwood.
Garden Living
Rathwood was established in 1994 in Rath, Tullow, County Carlow. In 1994 Patrick and Carmel Keogh transformed their 3,500 sq ft potato shed into a 10,000sq ft shopping emporium with 15 acres of land to show off furniture, gifts, gazebos, garden sheds, pots and plants.
Rathwood started off employing 2 people in 1994 and now employ over 100. The family have upgraded the shop several times over the years to improve and expand the business. 30,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space has been added. External upgrades increased the parking area from 10,000 to 40,000 square feet, trebling the number of car parking spaces on offer to visitors, not forgetting the addition of our Salon , Ark Playcentre and Woodshed Cafe!.
1994 – Rathwood Is Founded
Rathwood began as a family-run furniture store in rural Ireland, planting the seeds for what would become a beloved destination for shopping and experiences.
2002 – Expansion into Garden & Lifestyle Retail
The business diversified by adding a garden center and lifestyle department, broadening its appeal and starting its transformation into a full-day-out destination.
2010 – Launch of Rathwood’s Experience Days
Rathwood introduced seasonal events like the Easter Train and Santa Train, drawing families from across Ireland and establishing Rathwood as a leader in family experiences.
2020 – Growth as a Multi-Attraction Venue
With features like the forest walks, fun fair, and the on-site restaurant thriving, Rathwood strengthened its position as a must-visit venue, blending retail with adventure and entertainment.
